I'm actually coming in on Sunday and staying with my cousins for a few nights, switching to the hotel on Tuesday. My return is uncertain at this point, I have the hotel through Saturday, but may stay with my cousins again if I need the time for further research. We'll figure out a time to connect...Laura Cosgrove Lorenzanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02794581991087280753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-4117581433536862102012-04-29T13:34:41.766-05:002012-04-29T13:34:41.766-05:00Jacqi, thank you for sharing! I'm finding there are far more people out there with clotting disorders than I ever realized. I just hope to do something good with the time I have here. :-)Laura Cosgrove Lorenzanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02794581991087280753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-44663451700292468492012-04-29T09:28:35.911-05:002012-04-29T09:28:35.911-05:00Laura,

I have Factor V Leiden and passed it onto my daughter. My daughter is a genetic counselor and has done a lot of work in this area. She and her husband have also done a lot for the Stop the Clot organization. We'll have to talk about this in Cincinnati.Kathy Reedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09417754385375586302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-81876986026104552772012-04-27T18:18:22.177-05:002012-04-27T18:18:22.177-05:00Mariann, I appreciate the sentiment but I'm no...Mariann, I appreciate the sentiment but I'm not sure 'noble' is accurate. I just treat others the way I want to be treated. In some ways I hope I DO find connections; but in many ways I hope I don't...it's a double-edged sword. Thank you very much for reading and more so for taking the time to comment.Laura Cosgrove Lorenzanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02794581991087280753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-90529456642705059862012-04-27T15:43:37.771-05:002012-04-27T15:43:37.771-05:00So you are doing research to save lives, to save o...So you are doing research to save lives, to save other leaves on your family tree. That is a noble purpose. I am so glad you got the DNA test, and maybe some of your postings will broadcast to relatives who will find you. Thank you for giving us the original post!Mariannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09543003593158696611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-17482576626347906282012-04-26T21:01:05.237-05:002012-04-26T21:01:05.237-05:00What a frustrating story, Laura! I can relate, as once my husband's family heard that I am researching our family lines, a cousin told us about a similar congenital health issue that she has. It does help for family to know about things like this, and be tested for traces of that specific issue in their own genetic makeup.

There are so many resources now for health issues--especially advocacy groups. However, since you mentioned that your disorder has not been privileged to have many researching it, if there is not an online advocacy group for that, perhaps you can use your blogging skills there, too. Sometimes all it takes is someone willing to direct attention to an issue, raise awareness, or issue a call for action. With all this social media at our fingertips, perhaps that will bring you to the tipping point where more research will begin to be done regarding that deficiency.Jacqi Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471698670217119444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-25346818549161200812012-04-26T20:33:16.501-05:002012-04-26T20:33:16.501-05:00Thanks, Pat!Thanks, Pat!Laura Cosgrove Lorenzanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02794581991087280753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-927510992143247693.post-47323565296225427772012-04-26T20:32:43.427-05:002012-04-26T20:32:43.427-05:00Thanks, Judy.
